SCFO #006: A Solopreneur’s Mistake To Avoid On Your Road To Retirement.
Read time: 0:57 minutes
I have a confession to make.
Two years ago, I was consumed by the idea of achieving financial independence.
I felt like it was the only option to create:
More flexibility in my life
Spend more time with my wife and 2 kids, &
Have the freedom to pursue my interests
The only problem?
Our family was years away from reaching that goal.
I felt stuck between a rock and a hard place.
I could picture the life I wanted, but I couldn’t figure out how to achieve it.
Naively, I thought owning part of the business I worked for would change how I felt.
No doubt it would accelerate my path to financial independence, but it still felt like a sacrifice today for a bigger future tomorrow.
And when that moment finally did arrive, it felt off.
At that moment, I realized it was time for a change.
Waiting to live the life I wanted was no longer an option.
So I pivoted.
I started my own one-person business so I could:
Find fulfillment in my work
Discover the flexibility I want
Create time with my loved ones
Gain freedom to pursue my passions
That experience taught me money isn't a cure-all. It can fix some things, but not everything.
In the end, life’s about making room for the things that bring you happiness and fulfillment.
And the cool thing is, you don't have to wait around for it. You can take action and make it happen now.
